The Koyasan connection
Our work at Koyasan (Mount Koya) connects the programs with the imagery and ideas of Kūkai (Kukai), within Shingon Buddhism. Artist talks explore how that context meets contemporary questions about life and existence.
Art programs that connect us with life
The wisdom of Kūkai. Science that explores life.
And the questions we face today.
Bring an encounter with art and resonance to your space.

As AI takes on more of the work of knowledge and expression, how do we affirm our own worth? We approach this question through art that contemplates the beginning of life, and through sound, light and space that we experience with our bodies.
In the Womb Realm, we see a world that embraces and nurtures life. We bring this perspective into dialogue with science and philosophy, making time for each person to accept themselves and feel their connection with others and the world. We hope these experiences can help cultivate well-being in everyday life and society.
These programs approach spiritual questions through artworks, voice, film and dialogue. Each setting creates a different way to look, listen and reflect.
Our work at Koyasan (Mount Koya) connects the programs with the imagery and ideas of Kūkai (Kukai), within Shingon Buddhism. Artist talks explore how that context meets contemporary questions about life and existence.
For people interested in the Shikoku pilgrimage, known as henro or ohenro, a shared interest in Kūkai can open a conversation about Japanese spirituality. Here, pilgrimage is cultural context for the artworks and dialogue.
Looking slowly, listening to resonance and sharing a quiet interval are ways to participate. Meditation and moments of stillness can be included, offering space to reflect on personal well-being and connection through art.
The artists’ starting point is Kūkai’s Shingon Buddhist context. Visitors interested in Zen, mindfulness or spirituality are welcome to explore that distinct perspective through the artworks, sound and conversation.
Yes. We welcome curators, exhibition agencies, art consultants and cultural producers to discuss a program with the host venue. Content, format, language needs, duration and scale are considered together during planning.
Six forms of expression, combined to suit your purpose and setting.
Why turn to Kūkai’s wisdom today? We explore the Womb Realm, life and our sense of worth in the age of AI through the ideas expressed in our art.
A special program marking the 1,250th anniversary of the birth of Kōbō Daishi Kūkai
Konpon Daitō, Danjō Garan, Koyasan

A special program marking the 1,250th anniversary of Kōbō Daishi Kūkai’s birth. At Koyasan’s Konpon Daitō, film and song offered time to experience the connection between the universe and life.
As director Masahiko Hashimoto sang, the central doors of Konpon Daitō were opened especially for the occasion, revealing a golden Dainichi Nyorai from the darkness. This photograph captures the moment when Dainichi Nyorai, representing the universe, met the resonance of life.

From Kūkai’s name to the beginning of life and the questions we face today, the talk leads into an experience of feeling resonance through the body.
What lies within this name?
What does the Womb Realm hold?
What does it mean to be one with the universe?
The message Kūkai left us
Experience sound and voice through the body.
We make time to reflect on life and connection with practitioners in science, philosophy and culture, and with participants.
Bonji, mandalas and photography of life. We create room to encounter each work, arranging an exhibition that breathes with its setting.
Live performances invite you to feel voice, music and the resonance of the space through your body, opening the world of the artworks through listening.
Listen closely to breath and resonance, and turn your attention inward. Everyone, including beginners, can participate at their own pace.
Films contemplating life and the universe open our senses and perspectives. We shape the experience of light and sound around the screening environment.
Talks on Kūkai, art, life and well-being are combined with conversations and dialogue with participants. Suitable for cultural programs, educational settings and conferences.
Live sound, film and quiet meditation form a single flow. Time to reconnect with yourself, in halls, temples, community gatherings and corporate programs.
An exhibition becomes the starting point for artist talks, sound performances and film screenings. Designed for museums, cultural venues, temples, shrines and distinctive spaces.
We develop the content, duration and scale with you. A program may bring all these elements together or begin with a selection.

Our work in the Okuden at Kongōbu-ji, Koyasan, marked the 1,250th anniversary of Kōbō Daishi Kūkai’s birth. It continued with an exhibition in the Okushoin at World Heritage-listed Ninna-ji. The encounters between artworks, film and resonance in these settings inform the spaces we create next.
